“Love God? Love Sport? – connecting faith & sport in your life, church & community”

This is theme of the Christian Sports Network (NZ) conference to be held at Totara Springs in Matamata, Friday 31st October – Sunday 2nd November 2008.

A range of key speakers and workshops over the weekend will challenge & show attendees how they can use their love of sport to build the Kingdom. Conference organizer & Convenor of CSN (NZ) Andrew Kerr says “ this follows on from an initial conference in November 2005 at Manukau where 55 people discovered there really were some exciting things happening from the Christian perspective in sport across NZ but so much more which can be achieved through sharing ideas & resources – were believing we will have 120 at this one”. Sports ministries like Athletes in Action, Quantum Sport, Soccer Plus & Ignite Sport will be there along with a number of individuals & churches using sport in their life (or wanting to explore how to) & ministry.

A key part of CSN’s role is to make available the free resources of the International Sports Coalition (ISC) to NZ churches, ministries & individuals. The ISC is a world wide umbrella of Christian sports people & organizations who among other strategies are instrumental in the Christian presence at the Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup and other major events.

One of the conference speakers confirmed is Cam Butler of Sports Chaplaincy Australia and workshops will cover themes including Church Sports, Christian Character Development through sports, Kids & Extreme Games & other aspects relevant to the sub theme of ‘Sport – an opportunity or the competition for Church ?’.
