TOTARA SPRINGS – UPDATEYouth Sports30/11–2/12 11 Teams (342 Competitors). Teams came from Te Puke, Matamata (x2), Morrinsville, Te Awamutu and 6 teams from Auckland. Twenty two codes of sport where played. Morrinsville Baptist won both the Team Spirit Trophy and Sportsmanship Cup, while Massey Community Church won the "Overall Winners" cup. Rueben Munn was the speaker, Northcote Baptist supplied the worship band. In the NZ Herald recently (front page) you may have seen a report on a guy called Gareth Clarke, who was in a car accident 2 weeks ago. He narrowly missed death, when a branch went through his neck. Anyway Gareth was meant to be in a team at this sports camp. He was recovered enough to come and support his team, but of course watched mostly. However when his team (Soul Barbarians) had a penalty shot in the Soccer, Gareth came off the side line and kicked in a goal. The "Competitive Sports Camp" is on 25–28 January 2008. 13 teams will be competing, but teams will be looking for extra players to make up their teams.
