A Sports Chaplain is:

  • A VOLUNTEER who is an invited and trusted guest in the sports setting, who is available for conversations with team members, which may be personal and therefore confidential.
  • A PASTORAL MENTOR who considers the total person: mental, physical, spiritual and social rather than simply maximising the on field performance of the sports person.
  • A TEAM PLAYER who works in relationship with the sport’s supporting community (doctors, physiotherapists, managers, sport psychologists, officials, coaching staff etc).
